Sync isn’t especially new in Firefox, but Mozilla has recently been working to enhance the service. In fact, some updates appeared in a recent build of the Aurora version of the web browser.
Today we’ll take a quick look at how to turn it on and begin using it. This works in much the same way as its counterpart in Google’s Chrome web browser, so if you are familiar with that, then you shouldn’t have any problems grasping the Firefox build of the functionality, either.
To get started, the obvious first step is opening Firefox. From there, locate the menu bar at the top and click on the option for “Toolsâ€, then choose “Set up syncâ€. This will open a tab where you can sign in and get started.
You will need to create an account, which consists only of entering an email address and creating a password. You may also wish to check the box for “Choose what to syncâ€. Now hit the big blue “Next†button.
A box pops up that will allow you to pick and choose what you wish to sync. Options include bookmarks, tabs, passwords, history, add-ons and preferences. All are checked by default.
Click “Start†and you are on your way. You can now sign into Firefox from another computer, log into your account and begin pulling in your info, much as you can do with Chrome.
